CLASS DETAILS
Infant
|
| Because a child's most dramatic growth occurs during his first year, the King's Keep's infant program involves teaching many different skills. |
| While in our younger Infant Room, babies start learning to control their own movements, interact with their teachers, play with toys and sit up. Those in the older infant class stay busy creeping, crawling and toddling around the room. Older infants learn to play with friends, manipulate toys and enjoy table foods. Our infant classes utilize the Wee Learn curriculum and spend time regularly participating in music, art, story and play times. By maintaining an unusually small teacher-to-child ratio of 1:3, we are able to give each infant the individual caring attention he needs to thrive. |

- Babies in our younger infant room each have their own daily schedule. However, as babies get closer to moving into the older infant room, their teachers help them transition into a napping schedule that will make adjusting to the older room's schedule a smooth process.
- Our infant teachers love to watch their babies experience the feeling of paint between their toes and fingers and to watch parents' eyes light up at the sight of their frequent hand and footprint art projects.

CLASS POLICIES
| Bottle Preparation |
| Parents must bring bottles already prepared for feeding. Each infant room has a refrigerator for storage and a crock pot to warm the bottles as they are needed. Bottles must have the baby's first and last name and the current date on them. Also, bottle lids must be labeled with the baby's initials. |
| Diaper Bags & Medication |
| Parents may leave a diaper bag in the infant room for their baby. However, it is very important NOT to leave diaper cream, lotions or other medicines in the diaper bag. If a child needs medications, parents may complete a Medication Administration Form at the office, and the King's Keep will lock the medicine up during the day until it is needed. |

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
| Question |
What does my child need to be doing before moving into a one-year old room? |
| Answer |
In order to move into a one-year old room, children must be eating only table foods and drinking from sippy cups during the school day. Once a child moves into a one-year old room, he will learn to nap on a mat rather than in a crib. Though infant teachers help children learn to walk, walking is not required in order for a child to move up to an older room. |
| Question |
When do most children start trying table foods, and how do you handle this transition? |
| Answer |
Most children begin experimenting with table foods around 9 to 10 months of age. Infant teachers give parents a King's Keep menu and ask them to highlight the foods that they want their children to try. We recommend that parents start slowly so that any food allergies can be easily identified. Teachers will serve the snacks and lunch foods from our menu that parents request their children try. During the transition from baby food to table food, parents should continue bringing enough baby food to supplement their child's meals until the child is used to eating only table food. |
