In order to maintain the healthiest environment possible for our children and staff, King’s Keep follows all health and sanitation laws, as well as the additional recommendations of the Cabarrus Health Alliance. We require children and staff to wash their hands appropriately upon entering the classroom in the mornings and after going outside, using the restroom, wiping noses and changing diapers. Hand-washing is also required before handling food. Gloves are provided for teachers to use anytime they handle food or bodily fluids. Teachers sanitize changing tables and food service surfaces before and after use, and they send their toys through our kitchen’s sanitizing machine daily.
Parents of children who have allergies must ask their child’s pediatrician to complete an Allergy Form provided by the front office. The child’s picture and allergies are posted in the classroom and in the kitchen. The kitchen makes menu substitutions for children with documented allergies to specific foods.
No child is allowed to stay at King’s Keep with a communicable disease, rash, diarrhea, fever, pink eye or other questionable symptoms. If any of these symptoms develop after a child arrives at King’s Keep, we notify the parents and send the child home immediately. According to the Health Department, children must stay out of childcare until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours.
In order to give a child medicine, the King’s Keep office must have a current Medication Administration Form from the parents on file. Over-the-counter medications must be in the original container and be accompanied by a doctor’s note with specific instructions. The only exceptions are diaper creams, gas drops and teething gel/tablets. Prescription medications must be in the original container with the child’s name, prescribing physician and instructions. We will not give medicine for non-medical reasons, such as to make a child sleep. All medications remain locked up when not in use.
While occasional illness at any childcare facility is inevitable, we take every measure to prevent as much sickness as possible.
